The Tuss - Confederation Trough EP… Is It Richard?

The latest EP on Rephlex Records is entitled "Confederation Trough" by a mysterious "new" artist called The Tuss - however, one listen to the samples screams Analord. Rumours abound that it's two French guys, and the latest is that it's a guy named Gary - nonetheless, this is a great 3-track Acid EP, and worth a purchase even if it's not another nom de plume by Richard.

Interestingly enough, "Tuss" is Cornish for an erection, and Richard is Cornish... even the artwork photography is in Richard's style (Richard took all the photos that appear on the labels for the Analord series and quite a few of his other releases).

You can order it now for shipping on the 30th from WARP Records.

  1. This is Rich. He's played these tracks during his Snowbombing set in Austria etc... I know people will debate till they're blue in the face, but those claps are signature Aphex.

  9. "Confederation Trough’ EP is the debut single of new Rephlex signing The Tuss aka Brian Tregaskin, a musician discovered via intensive MySpace exploration by the A&R;dept. Apparently touted by labels such as XL and Ninja, The Tuss’s official line seems inspired by the time FFRR signed Chicago house legend Lil Louis’ smash hit ‘French Kiss’, even tho they had no information about him at all at the time! The EP features 4 tracks across 2 formats (just 3 tracks on each tho), featuring a unique blend of head music and dance vibes, everything from acid / house / techno / industrial to pastoral and folk influences."

    B: lol cool
    R: but there is only one condition
    B: lol what is it?
    R: u will have to go by the name The Tuss so everyone on the internet will think it's another one of Richard D James' aliases, because its a Cornish word. ... and this way it's gonna sell better cuz our releases are selling like shit recently...
    B: lol i like afx
    R: yeah... so that's what we're gonna do, alright?

  14. In the midst of all this Tuss stuff (which is great) Have you heard about the supposed collaboration between Tom Wilkinson (Squarepusher) and Richard D James? A few friends told me about it http://www.myspace.com/rotwangjams
    If it is indeed them, its quite original even for their styles.

    Wrong.

    A = Acid
    Ph = Measure of acid
    Ex = the experimental quality of his music

    Twin because he had a brother named richard that died at birth, and he considers him his twin.

  18. I really do think richard would laugh if he saw this post.
    Why anyone would go so deeply into someone elses ideas is entirely beyond me, particularly when its nothing more than a presented idea for everyone other than him,to know him by not unlike any other band name or artist name.

    APHEX TWIN is APHEX TWIN is APHEX TWIN
    and we know his name is richard d james, anything else about him is pure fanboy conjecture.

    His music is how you can recognise him and thats the way he likes it.

    I do believe the TUSS is another name he has assumed, and again to try and fool people exactly like those on this forum, who want to try and work out who he really is. To me the music under the name of the TUSS is most definately richard, it sounds like him and it feels like him , and the fact that people here are still talking about it , is just further evidence that is indeed APHEX TWIN.

    :D
